Crystals Add Pizzaz To Embroidery

As you know, embroidery is very showy.  It adds artistic interest and appeal to any fabric, garment, towel, picture, pillow case, linen bookmark, tote bag—people now do embroidery on greeting cards and toilet paper (usually as a humorous novelty piece of holiday decor), etc.  There are embroidered earrings and other jewelry.  It’s so versatile!  

To add a really magnificent special effect to my wearable art, I attach Swarovski or Preciosa crystals to my embroidery—and all of sudden, it goes from showy to eye-popping!  Animated.  Vivacious.  Flamboyant.  It creates such flair!    

Swarovsky and Preciosa Crystals

Swarovsky crystals are made of quartz sand and other natural minerals; they are a form of man-made glass.  Preciosa crystals are made of raw materials such as sand, silica, sodium, carbon, and other compounds, then combined with glassmaking technology.  Both Swarovsky and Preciosa crystals have specialty cutting made to the glass, providing a shimmering, sparkly, twinkling look; they are most impressive.  Both are brilliant!  Blazing!  Intense!  Dazzling!  

The Cat’s Meow Video

Look at the thrilling sparkly effects in the first short video of “The Cat’s Meow,” my work of an embroidered filigreed cat’s face decorated with Swarovsky crystals.  All stones are clear crystals and have a dramatic, eye-popping effect.  It’s hard to take your eyes off them! 

The Lovely Peacock Video

The video of the Swarovsky crystals on the Lovely Peacock design has a subtle effect and shows many pretty stones.  The crystals in this design are all in blues and purples, which have a pale, delicate type of shining effect.  But the colors are more vibrant and prominent when viewed by the eye than by a camera.
